Water And Power Trust Funds

The L.A. Department of Water and Power commissioners have voted to cut-off funding for two trust funds partially controlled by its employee union.

That's because the funds have refused to turn-over financial records.

Commissioner Jill Banks-Barad has also voted to have the L.A. City Controller begin an audit. She says the commission has been waiting two months for answers to simple questions.

Banks-Barad says, "The longer this goes on and the more time that goes on that we don't get the information requested, the worse it looks."

The Joint Safety and Training Institutes have received about 41 million dollars in public money, but have refused to explain how it’s spent the money.

The institutes’ managers have promised to have their own bookkeepers audit themselves.
