Ex NFL Star Arrested in LA

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Former NFL Safety Darren Sharper, a member of the league's 2000s All-Decade Team and a five-time Pro Bowl selection, was arrested Friday in Los Angeles for suspicion of rape, the sheriff's department said today.

According to police, Sharper, 38, has been linked to two sexual assaults that occurred in the West Los Angeles area, and believed to have occurred last October and this month.

He was arrested at 3 p.m. Friday by the Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery-Homicide Division, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Inmate Information Center.

The Miami Beach, Fla. resident later posted $200,000 bail and was released at 11:56 p.m. Friday. He was due in Los Angeles County Municipal Court's Division 30 on Feb. 14.

TMZ.com said the NFL Network suspended Sharper immediately and without pay late Friday. he was a commentator for the TV channel.

Sharper played eight seasons for Green Bay, four for Minnesota and one final year for New Orleans, where he earned a Super Bowl ring.
