Company Wants To Change Your Address

A company in Britain wants to change every address on earth.

The company, "what3words," has broken down every spot on the globe into 3 meter by 3 meter squares and assigned each one a 3 word formula that can specify each unique spot.

Say you're hiking in the Angeles National Forest and you fall and break your leg. When you call rescuers, instead of giving latitude and longitude, you'd look at the GPS on your phone and say something like, "mathematics.pelt.skis."

The concept also helps with addresses for large buildings - you can specify one particular entrance when giving directions.

What3words has plotted addresses for 57 trillion squares on planet Earth.
