WASHINGTON (AP) — Bao Bao is making her public debut.
Today is the general public's first chance to see the 5-month-old panda cub at the National Zoo in Washington.
The zoo has extended its hours this weekend to accommodate the expected crowds. Visitors are being allowed into the panda exhibit in small groups to avoid overcrowding.
The zoo says the amount of time Bao Bao and her mother Mei Xiang will be on display each day depends on their behavior. They will have access to their private den, if they choose.
The zoo uploaded a "selfie" of the baby panda to Instagram to promote an InstaMeet event for photographers on February 1.
