We got a feeling something bad ’bout to happen! Country music’s two leading ladies – that’s right, Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert – team up for this year’s Song Of The Summer. "Somethin' Bad," lifted from Lambert’s Platinum disc, is steeped in southern rock charm, doused in a Aerosmith-like chant and an infectious Top 40 hook. Ahead of the song’s music video release on Wednesday (June 25), Underwood has treated fans to a little taste.
In the 14-second Instragram clip, the powerhouse singers tear it up in the club, as the “drinks keep coming” and they throw their heads “back laughing.” The images splash across the screen with lightning speed, but where the lyrics left off, the video is surely to pick right up. Judging by the cinematic result, Underwood and Lambert do a bit of gambling and hit the highway on motorcycles (among other mischievous things). Portraying fictional characters Priscilla Parker and Belle Boyd, respectively, they raise enough hell to land them in prison.
We smell Thelma & Louise action, for sure!
The two singers first debuted the rock-inspired track at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards (an electric performance which featured lots and lots of fire) and enjoyed a No. 5 bow on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs. It moved 107,000 digital downloads in the first week of release and has already gained considerable airplay in its infancy.
